What is a Grab Lorry?

Think of a grab lorry a bit like a giant skip-truck hybrid. It has a hydraulic arm that’ll do the hard work of removing waste so you don’t have to. Similar to skip hire, materials grab lorry hire is most suitable for are muck, hardcore, wood, mixed general waste, green and garden waste, etc.

Not only are these lorries ideal for taking away used materials, they’re also great for use with tarmac and concrete, for lifting pallets via a sling, and for transporting as haulage vehicles. We offer a variety of aggregates (primary and recycled), including quality screened topsoil, which we can deliver in and around the Huntingdon area, to private homes or large sites.

The hydraulic arm on the grab lorry will load all your materials into the generous container bed, for your waste to be taken back to our base in Bedfordshire in one swift trip.

Why is a lorry beneficial for you?

Primarily, grab lorries have huge volume for materials due to their large size. Our range is able to hold waste equivalent to two 8yd skips, which is 16 tonnes.

Secondly, the ‘grab’ arm saves you time and energy. While the lorry does the back and forth, you avoid multiple wheelbarrow trips to and from your heap of waste. By fast-tracking the process, removing waste, clearing sites, and all sorts of demolition and construction can be sorted in a shorter, much more efficient way, so you can continue to progress with your project.

Additionally, there are many locations in Sandy unsuitable for access by humans. Heavy machinery has few confines, making it a vastly effective option. For example, a large quantity of debris can be reached from metres away by the arm, and from tricky angles, simply by going over instead of around.

And lastly, grab lorries can take away your materials asap. Once full, there’s no need to wait on your driveway, street or site until collection. When we take your waste away, we’re able to collect from you, and deliver to another, separate location, therefore maximising our workload.

The lorry needs to be able to access the waste or deliver the material from either side of the vehicle. It cannot unload from the rear.

The grab lorry can get to more difficult places and spaces due to the arm and grab buckets ability to reach out over fences and obstacles.
